I don't know I might have to take that back. Post #19. This one looks like a pretty cool looking gun. A lot of times I'll buy a gun just because I like the looks of one. But I've yet to see one at any of the stores in my area. From what I've read ammo is somewhat hard to come by and expensive too?
That S&W 5.7 I wanted to buy, but found out it was too big of a grip for my hand.... (I commented on another thread)... It uses the same caliber as this FN pistol you are referring to.

Yes, this is their newest version of the Fn Five Seven. And, I agree, it does look cool. But, it is 2x the price f the new S&W M&P 5.7.

Right now, factory ammo is on sale at $36 per 50 rounds at a few places online. Used to be that $29 a box was high. And, $22 or so was where it was. Granted, some people report cheaper prices when they bought it in blk. But yea, it is expensive. It has always costed more than 9mm does.

At a MSRP of 1,509 the FN is more than twice the price of the S&W M&P 5.7 which has a MSRP of $699. $810 more to be exact. I'm just wondering when I'll see one at any one of my local gun stores? I'll never take a chance and buy one on line. I've got to see and handle any gun I buy first. Based on the looks of it alone and if I like the pistol I'd be willing to shell out the extra $810 for it. What they go for when they hit my dealers shelf is another story. I guess it will all depend on how much of a demand there is for that pistol? The way a gun looks and feels is an important factor for me when buying a gun. Indeed so is the manufacturer. Both S&W and FN have a good reputation for making reliable firearms and if taken care of should provide a lifetime's worth of service. In which case the S&W is a much better deal.

I paid $1249 for my FN High Power at the same store they had EAA FN High Power clones for sale at $499. A $750 difference. The EAA FN High Power clones were real nice guns and definitely a better buy. But for me buying a modernized version from the original manufacturer was well worth the money. The only thing that I don't like about that gun is the cheap plastic recoil rod. I took a chance and bought a stainless steel guide rod for a Ruger SR 40 that when cut down to the same size as the plastic one will work but only with a flat wire recoil spring. I wrote about this in one of my earlier posts. I believe that it was under: "What's the last gun related item you bought?" under Handgun accessories post #96 ? At any rate I have a lot of gun parts for various guns that I have and found that the flat wire spring for my Glock G23 at 18 lbs. will work on that guide rod and is a perfect fit in that gun. The factory spring is 17 lbs.

You can get the FN in the $1200 range. And the S&W should be less tha $700
Now I'm really starting to get interested in this gun. Finding one is my only problem. When it first came out I was interested in the new FN High Power. I think that it made it's debut at last years shot show? But it seems to take a bit of time before they hit dealers shelves. I kept checking my local gun stores for about a year now for this gun. Until one showed up about two weeks ago at only one of the stores. So I didn't hesitate to go check it out and if I liked it buy it. I ended up buying it and still nobody else has them. So I got the only one around here at least for now.

I imagine that this gun will be the same as it's only been out for about a year too? I just found out about it a few days ago and it's the first 5.7 that I really like the looks of. Which got me thinking about a caliber that I had no real interest in before. FN's first 5.7 never appealed to me, mostly because of its looks and feel. As far as their new 5.7 goes? Like my wife says: "You'll probably end up buying it". Which happens with me nine times out of ten. But like I've said in my post #22 "I've got to see and handle any gun I buy first." We have some pretty good gun stores in my area. Stores that have a wide selection. However I'm not about to call every gun store in the state looking for this gun or any gun for that matter. Or spend the entire day driving to and from a store that has one only to come back empty handed.
