Last Thursday having some coffee at my LGS (actually it’s a mom and Pop shop), Rich, the owner who knows I have an M&P FPC 9mm told me that Smith is sending him two new 9mm carbine models, expecting em to arrive Tuesday. I had no clue they had developed a second one let alone released it 9 months later after they released the FPC. Go figure. Why I don’t know, but I don’t care either.

So yesterday having forgot about its arrival, Rich called me to tell me my new Springfield Saint Victor order arrived. I bought it online because Rich sells every brand new firearm way above MSRP. So I went in to pick it up. When I sat down with a nice cup of coffee to fill out the paperwork, he interrupted me and slapped the new S&W Carbine in my hands.

Man that felt good, just like an AR. I was pleased to learn a bit about the “FLEX MAG” adapters Which really opens the door to multi brand mag use. It comes with two and I think there are a few more available.

Now Rich is charging $899 which is much more than MSRP. No matter….. don’t need a 2nd 9mm carbine anyway (Especially from him). But if I could justify any price tag let alone the need for a 2nd PCC….This would be a sweet thing to have.

I use carbine/lighter weight long guns. So the Response is appealing until I see that it is a polymer carbine (like the .22lr AR-style plinger). Hopefully, the range will bring one in to try and I will make a final decision after shooting it a lot.
A big advantage for me is the extra magwell for Glock mags. Glock mags are dependable but I have never found S&W mags to be reliable/consistent. So the use of Glock mags is a big plus for me. There video reviews for the Response are lacking; they are sales videos. (I didn't know so many guntubers were such shills.)
I would like something lighter than the Ruger PCC.
