4" Shield Plus accolades, once again

I know I have said it many, many times on this forum again. But, if anyone is thinking about buying a new gun - go get the 4" Performance Center Shield Plus in 9mm. You don't have to buy the optic version (that comes with that CT optic) or even the ported version. Just buy the normal, PC version of the Shield Plus with the 4" barrel.

I can't tell you how much I love this gun. I've had it about 2 years now. The sights are amazing, and the trigger is just awesome. The Performance Center does something a little different over the regular Shield Plus. The trigger breaks between 3.25 pounds and 3.5 pounds. Best factory trigger I've ever tried...

I shot this gun again this morning. It is my favorite gun I own. And, this may sound crazy.... But in 30 years time, I have owned 3 digits worth of guns (some very expensive). I was always "chasing the perfect" gun... Always hoping to find one I'd shoot just a little better.... That search just kept going on and on... I knew I'd never find "the" gun, but I kept looking :)

Everyone has their personal preferences, and we may all end up liking different things at the end of the day.... But, I will say that this Perf Center 4" Shield Plus is THE gun I've been chasing all that time. Yes, I did just say that. I know, a rather bold statement, but it is true.

I keep wishing S&W would come out with a 5" version of the Shield Plus. That would be really awesome...

Yes the M&P 9 Shield Plus Performance Center 4" is a fine handgun with a great trigger right out of the box, excellent sights, and quite accurate. Now you have to make it better. Using the 10-round magazine it comes with, install the MagGuts spring kit. You get three more rounds and its a lot easier to load the mag to capacity. And the kit comes with a base plate that is ideal for this gun. I highly recommend this mod.

I was very resistant to any of these shields as I’ve stated. I bought a regular shield plus and can’t say how much I actually like that gun. My daughter remarked about it as well. If the performance center is better that’s pretty wild.
Im not typically a striker fired gun guy either.

I started out a striker fired gun guy. But for over a decade, i was pretty much ONLY DA/SA. Hell, I have owned 29 Beretta 92's, along with easily another couple dozen DA/SA guns. But, I think it was around 2018 or so... the APX got me back into striker fired guns. Now, it is my preference again.

Idk if it’ll ever be a preference but honestly I don’t realize I shouldn’t like it on that gun. My brothers VP9 match is similar to me. I don’t mind it. Still like the shield plus better. Most striker guns feel too mushy to me. Even ones guys swear are great. I’ll just never get it. But honestly Shipwreck it was your insistence that shield plus was a great gun made me even consider one. Even then I expected not to like it. I was wrong

There are a number of striker fired guns out there than do not have a mushy trigger. And there are always kits available to vastly improve the trigger or in some cases, Glocks, you can do all the work yourself. I have several gen3's and a gen4 Glock that have triggers you wouldn't believe. And I did all the work myself and used Glock parts where strategic replacements were desired. Nice crisp breaks and a very definitive "wall".

I don't like to modify triggers, other than a D spring in a Beretta. So, I try to find things I like "as is."

But this PC trigger is amazing
Yes it is. I also like the triggers on my P365X and XL. Easy to get used to and quite good as they come out of the box. I have no intention of modding the triggers on my Sigs or my Shield Pluses.

We don't have to worry about modding our triggers in my state. If your shoot was a good one, as in justifiable, the trigger is not going to be an issue since what you did was done deliberately so a ND would not even come into play.

My P365X and XL pistols are two of my primary carry guns. Granted their triggers were different at first because they are flat faced and have 90 degree positioned breaks. But they were easy to get used to and I like them very much.

I really like my M&P 2.0 in 10mm, it just about shoots itself out of my hands, it just fits and fires great, not the exact same pistol, but I’m with you on the S&W m&p line, View attachment 25929 View attachment 25930
I've been going back and forth about getting a 10mm pistol for some years now. I have been favoring a gen4 Glock 20 but should probably include the new M&P in my candidate selection. Haven't gotten to the point of taking a decision to make the purchase yet but I do like to watch videos and toy with the idea.
