I do own an 870 that will shoot <2moa with solid copper sabot slugs in case there is a bear hiding behind the neighbors freezer full of beef.

Simply the best. Compact CZ with decocker. Never have to concern yourself if the safety is on or off. Laser flashlight for night use. Since it is dark half the time. You need to be sure of your target. whether it be intruder, mountain lion or bear causing trouble in the back yard.
I think this gun is better than my Beretta.

I have no specific "home defense" gun. I do keep an H&R SB12 single shot, break barrel handy...loaded with #4 shot, with a 5-round butt cuff on the stock. Don't laugh too hard, I have shot that gun a lot, and along with the "auto-eject" function, I can shoot a round and reload it mighty quick.
Other than that, I always have whatever handgun I have been carrying that day, right beside me always...or on me. We have a pretty good alarm system, along with a fairly long hallway to our bedroom. Basically a "kill zone" some clown would have to travel down to get to us, and they would be lit up by the motion sensor hall lighting as well, while we would be in the dark room. I would not want to venture down that hall at night, with the notion I was gonna get some "easy meat". They need buckets to catch bullets and shot.
Only downside to the motion lights, is that our cats set them off once in a while. They are set to ignore small animals, but one cat is fat.
