The topics of politics is allowed again on the forum - provided people behave.

The rule of "no politics" had previously been instituted when there had some fights breaking out.

Interesting that many here share the same beliefs, yet disagreements STILL break out. Please realize that members here CAN disagree and talk and discuss things WITHOUT calling the other person an insulting name. That was starting to be a large problem, even among some regulars here.

That just makes the name caller look like a.... Well, a jerk...

If you just get so upset - walk away from the screen before you start posting insults.

Anyway, please try to keep political topics in their own thread. Sometimes they pop up in totally non related threads - and then the thread gets derailed totally.

Now, if things get out of hand again, we'll have to revisit this.

Thanks.

When people resort to this behavior, they have already lost their argument.

I hear ya, but look at it from my point of view. This happens a LOT. And every rule we have is because someone did that very thing. So, we had to add each rule 1 by 1, over time....

Does this mean we can now demonstrate contempt and disrespectful disdain against politicians in rude and insulting manners, as if we haven’t be doing that and more already. (Thanks for turning a blind eye, Ship) 😉
Just try not to punish the many by the actions of a few or the one.

Oh I agree with you. It does bother me when people lose their civility and start getting personal with name calling and foul language. My brother used to have a wonderful saying which I'll share with all;

"Profanity is the effort of a feeble mind trying to express itself forcibly".

Good advice. I wish all the drivers on the road would abide by that sound advice. Way to many times I see tailgating, middle fingers, horns, cutting drivers off etc. on the roads today. Talk about the need for situational awareness! And it is not only while driving. I see it daily on my walks and bike rides. Again, if you do not agree with a post or opinion just be polite and say so or go to another topic. The best part of this forum is reading the replies to the posts. Always something to either make you think or is news to you. Thanks Southern Boy!

You're most welcome. My mom also had a great saying which I remember to this day. I just wish I would adhere to this more than I do, though I do try.

"Treat everyone with dignity and respect until they give you reason not to. Then just avoid them."

Just a reminder. There is no such thing as a "good" politician. Some MIGHT be less bad than others, but they are ALL some degree of bad.

There is no such thing as a "good" politician. ALL of them have some kind of failing or another. Your job as a voter is to select the LEAST bad of them. This means you have to look beyond party BS and y our own little snowglobe and find out what is best for the NATION, STATE, or LOCATION as a WHOLE. It is childish in the extreme to expect someone who lives daily in circumstances different from yours to venerate your beliefs. Just STUPID. Remember, because you do not understand something does not make it incomprehensible.

Nah, no sense in wanting to argue with those who have renounced the use of reason. Its like administering medicine to the dead. I’m not interested in arguing with anyone anyway. Adult discussion, sure. You educate as well as get educated and learn a lot more.
Arguing includes name calling and infantile insults, well that’s kid stuff.
I‘m extremely adept at hurling polite adult insults. So much so that the infantile crowd doesn’t know when they’re being insulted. It just gets so boring that its not even fun and I don’t bother wasting time with it anymore. (Ignore em)
On the forum it’s easier and less irritating to just set such folks to “ignore”.
Now…. I will enjoy taking pokes directed at the stupid actions and words of politicians….any politician is fare game, I don’t discriminate. It’s quite refreshing.

I have to confess SB that when you work on cars enough profanity can become second nature. "Why won't this &%$## thing go back together? "I can't get this &%$## thing apart." "Who the &%$## designed this &%$## thing?" "&%$## this, I'm done." "I gotta' be outta' my &%$## mind". "What the &%$## did I get myself into?" "Ow my &%$## fingers."

Yeah me too, but like I said sometimes it's just out of habit. Working on cars can at times be pretty stressful. You just want to get it done and over with then be back on the road. Then there are those jobs that take a lot longer than anticipated. Not too mention that at often times you're working in confined and hard to reach spaces all bent up like a pretzel. But in the end it's very rewarding especially when at car shows to be able to tell people that you did all of the work with the exception of machine shop work yourself.

Just recently (Easter Sunday) I rebuilt the fuel pump on one of my old cars. I started the car, it ran for about 5 minutes then quit abruptly. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out what was wrong and about 2 1/2 days to fix it. It's got a big old straight eight engine and the pump was hard to reach. It's a dual action pump, one pumps the fuel, the other is for the vacuum controlled windshield wipers. The shaft that holds the rocker arm in place worked it's way out of the housing. I was lucky that the pump quit while the car was still in my garage. Fortunately I had another unit that I bought a long time ago and was able combine the parts into one good unit. It looks like a pretty simple job except the new diaphragms have to be pre loaded and there are two really strong springs working against you as you put the housing back together. I had to practice using the old unit and old diaphragms several times until I got it right. Then there's another strong spring behind the rocker arm that works against you when installing the pump back on the car, not to mention getting both the fuel and vacuum lines aligned without stripping the threads. This was definitely a four letter word job at times.
