I'm not new to shooting, but new to handgunning, and just got a new 92FS. I'm looking forward to learning all I can about shooting and practicing at the various ranges in the area. My gun has never been shot and I've already muffed it. I put a spent cartridge in it to 'dry fire' it and now the slide is stuck, with about 3/8" of the recoil spring guide sticking out, and the slide won't go forward or back. Even releasing the disassembling latch doesn't help. What have I got here, and can I fix it?

Is the shell casing lodged in there? About the only thing that is going to cause it to get "stuck", is an obstruction of some sort.

Oh, and welcome to the forum! :)

Try putting a plastic cleaning rod through the front of the gun - down the barrel. Push it into the casing and try to push the casing out at the same time U try to push the slide back.

A used casing expands after firing, that is probably why it didn' fit right afterwards.

Don't do that again after you get it out :)
