I'm a retired US Air Force enlisted member. I started my military career in the reserves as a Security Specialist and training in Armory and long distance shooting at the time the local job market dropped out in the 70's and I went active duty and cross trained into Minuteman Thermonuclear Missile Maintenance Specialist.
I spent the first 30 months of my career in South Dakota, then the next 12.5 years at Chanute AFB, in Rantoul Illinois. I completed 3 degrees while on base. First one is unique; AAS in Missile Technology, then a BA in Math, and a MSEd in Higher Education. The AAS was threw the Community College of the Air Force, then the BA and MSED were through Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Illinois. Moved in AF recruiting for 2 years in State College, PA. and then onto Cheyenne Wyoming for 2 years to retire as a Master Sergeant(E-7).
I returned to the Pittsburgh, PA area to work in small colleges as an Electronic Program Director and Registrar before ending up working with USIS doing government background check reviews before being medically retired.
My beautiful wife of over 46 years and I are now both retired after she retired from banking as an Assistant Vice President and spend our time helping our family and supporting my 96 year old WW II veteran father.

Howdy.
Da Boy just signed for his last four. If he makes all of it, it will give him 24 years. He likes where he is, but they don't like that he's there for some reason. The brass is fine but a new Chief and Sr ?, decided they were in charge instead of the AF, so it will have to play out. They don't know the particulars, but with the reenlistment, all that is off the table.
Bless you for taking care of your folks. It is a stressful task at times. Enjoy the mayhem.
