The enabling legislation was passed to be active 1 July, but the delay is to allow the AG to set up the system to certify the trainers, line up the paper system, etc.

It's actually not as silly as it sounds, and, fortunately, the AG is a decent sort who's all for CCW and is doing a good job getting things set up. They've just finished the first round of train-the-trainers, and I'm on the list with one of the local guys.

I think the permits in TX started around 1996. I moved here in Feb of 1996 - Back then, U had to be a resident for 6 months before U could apply - So, I had to wait 6 long months
