I dunno...
I don't normally seek cover behind bowling balls, frozen turkeys, watermelons, or ice cubes.

How 'bout trying fast-food-joints' tables, chairs, and counters, or bank tellers' cages, or car doors and windshields instead?

A few months ago I saw something on tv about how safe is it to take cover behind appliances in the home....... it ain't safe. 9mm went straight through fridge, stove, freezer - washer was best but still not safe.
Not all appliances are created equal. Some are so flimsy you can dent them with your thumb while other are very solid. I bet a washer with a stainless steel drum is a good bit safer cover than one with a plastic drum. Materials are important to consider in home defense situations. I have solid wood doors in my home, not hollow core or masonite. The walls of my living room are half-inch wood paneling except for the one that is brick. I have a cast iron tub, not a plastic one. The right materials can lower your maintenance costs and make you safer at the same time.
