Hot Range

It's like 96 or 97 right now outside...

I dont think i could take texas ,Im a whimp when it comes to heat but im still going fishing tomarrow with a high of 93.

I did some more yards work later in the day - it was around 100 around 4pm today...

Shipwreck, the temp really fails on people not used to the drastic swing in temps. I think we has a few days of -30 degree temps this winter and when it gets in the 90s, it feels really hot. Growing up in Texas, I never saw a 120-130+ degree temp change from winter to summer. About the coldest I ever saw in Texas was +15 and then the hottest was 106, I think. That's only a 91 degree swing. I still am not understanding why I live up here.

LOL..Thor my brother had to move to nevada he couldn't take the winters here any longer.When i was in the military we once flew from Alaskas -54 degrees ,not including the windchill to Panama for jungle training, in 112 degree weather.I was sick for a few days but being in good shape i survived but let me tell you ,nobody should go out onto a ocean break, lay down with a 12 pack of beer and fall to sleep when its over 110 degrees,by the time we left panama i was a darker shade of red then a cooked lobster.

We've never had a summer quite like it before - Thankfully. But, the year I moved to Texas, 1996, there was a terrible drought. It did not rain the ENTIRE summer. I wasked my car once. And, since it was a color that didn't really show dust, I never had to wash it again for the rest of the summer.

One day that summer, it hit 117! Geeze. Like I said, we've never come close to that again. I am glad.

You dont live in one of the metros do ya? I used to work in Arlington and with all the concrete and asphalt for 40 miles in every direction Ive seen more 120+ degree days than I ever want to see again

Was up in St Cloud, MN & Becker, MN today and temps were at 99 & 98 degrees. That's downright warm for MN.

I don't ever recall Texas hitting the 120 mark when I lived there. IIR, 106-107 was about the hottest. Cracks in the ground that could swallow a man whole, though. That was Dallas area and northwards. There were days we were thankful for Lake Texoma and the community pools.

Well, this was in 96. It was a strange year. I had just moved to Tx, and was wondering if that was how it always was

Im not talking about the OFFICIAL temp Recorded in the grassy area at DFW airport,Im talking about the temp measured in the shop at my place of employment.(and that was still in the shade) :-D :-D

And as I recall the hotter it got outside the less breeze there was to help.Ive got a cousin lives up by Texhoma too.... :lol:

I remember marching band practice that began in mid-July in Texas (Garland). By the time it was over, it was 104 outside air temp and the asphalt felt another 10 degrees warmer.

Working on the river, (Mississippi), now, it's been hot & frikkin HUMID with little or no breeze for the last week and a half. Thank God, it's supposed to get back to normal by Thursday.
