In my search I may not have found the same reports of the link provided.
In the reports I did see I was amazed to learn that a 9mm loaded with FMC's was successful in stopping big bears.
I have specialty heavy bullet loads (solids) worked out for my 44 Mag and 357 Mag revolvers.
My only 44 at this time is big and heavy. I have a choice 357's though.
Next time in bear country maybe I'll just bring an easy to carry 357? .. Sure would make my load lighter.
Good article - little conjecture, just verifiable fact.
Of course, we don't know how much we don't know, i.e. how many confrontations went unreported, for whatever reason, including dying at the hands of a bear, after emptying a gun into it.
It's kind of like the media reporting 1000 apprehensions on the southern border per day. Those are just the ones who walked across, surrendered voluntarily, had their diapers changed, and then were released to begin their new life in the urban hell-hole of their choosing. We are clueless about how many others may have crossed the border at secret locations that the border patrol didn't find, because they had to baby-sit the refugees.
