For what it's worth - Guntalk did a show with the chief of GunBroker.com - Tom was pretty positive, but asked real questions - apparently they provide a number of services like escrow on transfer funds as well as arbitration in disputes.

It's still and ebay-type setup - know your seller/buyer beware - but they seem to be making a good effort to limit the risks.

One of the gun mags did an issue on buying on the internet. You might look that up.

I know one gun shop owner who I trust who sells guns through sites such as gunbroker - he does his best to describe the gun for sale as accurately as possible. He's had good luck selling this way. Can't say anything about buying this way.

I am on all of the gun sites, and I have read NUMEROUS complaints about Gunbroker. Many people have made posts stating they got ripped off or sent a shoddy gun in terrible condition. Apparently, when people leave negative feedback on these vendors, the feedback routinely gets deleted, and the complainer had his account cancelled.

Word is that gunbroker must be in collusion with these vendors in order to keep the servie going w/ the bigger vendors. At least that is what the people who have claimed they got ripped out have speculated.

I've seen probably 10-12 people post the same complaint/scenario as the one above.

I would not deal w/ them, personally. If this is occurring, then you cannot trust the entire feedback system there.

Buyer beware I suppose. I have bought two pistols from GunBrokers.com with out a problem. But... 2 pistols is not much, and I could get stung on the next one...
Even eBoy, I've had pretty good success with it, but I've been "got to" a couple of times. Kind of lowers your over all savings...
I will say this about any of those auctions, they are fun!

I use gun broker, etc. to scan for latest prices and availability only. I would NOT buy a gun from an individual on line. The individual may be perfectly honest and above-board but his opinion and mine may differ considerably. Face-to-face only on used guns. I know that limits what can be had but there are no suprises. I would buy a new gun from an estabilished gun store by mail order if it was something I couldn't find locally. Just my .02 FWIW. :smt044

Well I bit the bullet(so to speak) and did it. Got a NIB Beretta 92FS Police Special with 3 15 rnd. mags for $449. Dealer has good feedback, website for his gunshop, and seems to be legit. If things go south, the website offers insurance with a hundred dollar deductable, and I would take things to a legal level if I got screwed. Seller also offers 3 day inspection for return. Wish me luck, but I have a good feeling about it.
