Going to war? Good news! The United States is 13 years behind in ammunition production, NYT reports

The United States' commitment to support Ukraine against the Russian invasion appears to have rattled the stability of the domestic stockpile of missiles and munitions.

The Biden administration has promised — as part of $33 billion sent in military aid for the besieged country so far — a US Patriot air-defense system will be sent to Ukraine, along with over 200,000 rounds of artillery, rockets, and tank rounds.

In fulfilling those promises, The New York Times reported the US has sent Ukraine so many stockpiled Stinger missiles that it would take 13 years of production at recent capacity levels to replace them. The Times added that Raytheon, the company that helps make Javeline missile systems, said it would take five years at last year's production rates to replace the number of missiles sent to Ukraine in the last ten months.

I’m not at all convinced here. I definitely don’t hold stock in the New York Times or any liberal rag that continuously spreads falsehoods, twisted facts and truths then gets sued on a regular basis. Ya never know when they’re being 100%, 75%, 25% factual.
But then again, my hometown newspaper tries to pull this stunt on rare occasion. People here are smarter than the paper believes they are and they do get called out on it on those occasions. I think they got the point when readership dropped to “woe nelly” levels.

While I don't think Ukrane is our problem, just a DC money laundering scam, this does not sit well. It sounds like our munitions were at a very critical point to begin with.
Not good.

I had a call from the DOD about a month ago, asking if I would be willing to part with some of mine?

I told um when Hell froze over! All I heard was a "click".

The Ukraine seems to be falling despite the Lame Stream accounts. It is what it is, and I'm not convinced Putin is the bad guy here, especially with the pandering of the administration of today.
Our future is very shaky for the time being, all from within.
One thing for certain, NO ONE will come to our aid.

Or it could be a story planted by the Biden administration and his Pentagon political lackeys to slow/stop sales of ammo to citizens as Uncle Sam needs it.

Not sure I'd even joke about that on the internet, especially with all the data mining going on up in here.

Have any of you guys ever seen an ASP? Have you ever seen a CVSS motor pool?

When I got out of the army in 2003 we were shooting rounds that had been packaged in the late 50s. We were shooting 5.56 from the mid-70s.

I promise you that ammunition production has been ramped well up for the last 20 years.

What we've given to Ukraine isn't even the drop in the bucket

I noticed that; but hadn’t figured out the “why” yet. 👍👍

We were eating them into the 80's from the 50's. Much better than the first gen MRE.coli's, in everyway.
I still have my P-38 on a chain with my dogs tags......somewhere around here. Gonna have to hunt them down and put them in a safe place.

LostInTexas had commented that not everyone out there might take it as the joke it is meant to be. (Don't want ParaT investigated for implied possession.)
