Florida one final step closer to constitutional carry

Is this a good or bad idea for FLORIDA

I live here and have done so since 88. I’ve had a cwp since that time as well. I’ve been shooting since I was 5 and have been heavily instructed until my years of further instruction in the military began. (It’s been a blast).

Times have changed since before they thought to lay the foundation of our constitution when for the most part, every home had a firearm and its sole purpose back then wasn’t for self defense, but rather substance. Fathers got to educate and train young’ns for years.

My philosophy on responsible gun ownership is ITS A HUGE RESPONSIBILITY and like marriage, children, owning a home and a car SHOULD NOT BE TAKING LIGHTLY.

While I agree 100% that rights should not be capitalized on for monetary purposes (rent to own) there’s also the consideration that theres no such thing as an unregulated right. My personal opinion on that is if there were so many nefarious people out there willing to abuse rights, there would be no reason to regulate them at the state and federal level. A healthy , God fearing conscience is self regulating and has no need of federal or state governments defining things for us when we only require those endowed to us by the redeemer of man In his word. But there are many who have pushed that away and abandoned it altogether (having their conscience seered as though with a hot iron). They have abandoned their ability to self regulate right and wrong allowing nefarious men of the same stock to define their sense of right and wrong for them.

I would love that florida becomes a constitutional carry state. I love the option to open carry when it’s hotter than a pistol and twice as muggy.
My concern is that with the influx of city folks (mostly yankees from liberal states) can’t handle such responsibility! They don’t know how. They’ve allowed men, they’re governments to do their thinking em. ”here kids, here’s a AR 15…..go to the park and play” . Bad idea…..very very bad idea!

When I First decided to get a CWP here, I didn’t take that lightly at all. Even though I qualified through my military service, it seemed like something was missing from the equation. I found what was missing through the sheriffs department. They had a program to educate folks wanting to have a cwp. 4 hrs of classroom alone; and you had to demonstrate gun safety and handling with 50 rounds of ammunition on the shooting range.

But the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of this education was the 4 hr long class where were florida law was crammed down your throat! RESPONSIBILITY AND CONSEQUENCES! This alone should scare some folks out of the class and sell off their firearm, realizing they don’t possess the ability to measure up!
Thats what was missing For me so I jumped at it!

If you ask me, constitutional carry for Florida it’s extremely risky without proper training and education. ……and we will be seeing a lot of freak News stories in the months and years after Mr DeSantis signs this bill that I won’t oppose because….it’s just too late. I’ll just go with the flow as well because there are good and bad arguments too.

Yes there are plenty of folks who won’t carry merely because of their anti-gun mentality, only to one day hide behind someone with a gun to guard their well being (everyone loves a sheepdog). But there are also others who are wise enough to know that they don’t measure up or simply don’t want that kind of responsibility. Kudos to them too!

What I would have preferred is baby steps and some kind of regulation for training and education to be conducted independently of state programs.
What this bill does is force me to carry more ammunition than what I feel is necessary.
Criminals who don’t care about the law or training will always have some kind of weapon. A citizen with proper training and education will almost always have the upper hand against those who don’t.

Times have seri changed alrigh.
I’m all for having the option open carry! For Florida I think constitutional carry is a a bunch of accidents waiting to happen. I would much rather prefer to require folks have CWP’s here to qualify for both open and concealed carry.

But thats just me. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m right.
I now open the floor to open, healthy ADULT discussion .

Very nice,
Sounds Coastal, water piling ?
👍
I worked for a couple giant companies, they have to be big to support their machines and trucks. We did mostly buildings and bridges, all on land thankfully. Working off a barge if tough, did that in Baltimore Inner Harbor, hated it. I’m lucky to have made it out with all my fingers and toes, there where at least 9 times I was inches, and or seconds, from death and dismemberment,, to much massive forces going on, and you’re right there next to the hammer under the crane.

Yes, carrying in or on school property is a federal crime. IF you have a carry license you can have it in you vehicle on campus (Parking lot, pick up line, etc), but not in any building at all!

I think Concealed Carry should be authorized throughout ALL 50 states for responsible gun owners. The regrets out way the Liberal thoughts that GUNS KILL PEOPLE. We Folks it's NOT guns that kill people, it's PEOLE that KILL PEOPLE.

It is authorized In all 50.
Now we should talk about what level of impingements Are applied.
Hawaii for instance allows both concealed and open carry……rights there however are for rent!
