I agree. I too am not yet interested in putting one on a handgun. On a rifle - hell yea.

I have a Burris FastFire 3 on my PMR 30 which really helps with the accuracy out to 50 + feet. Fun as hell to shoot in low light.

Me neither for a few reasons.
First I am red green colorblind, so a red dot does me no good.
Second according to the video there is a learning curve.
Third none of my old firearms will accept a red dot, so iron sights it is.

I don't use it. It's an external dependency and potential point of failure.

The only reason I got striker fired was I could get the optic , so much easier for my eyes now
Took me awhile to master it ..

Yes! They are faster and more accurate than irons. It has been proven time after time. Just go to the Steel Challenge website and look at the time differences between optic and irons. It is not even close.

I would never install this item on a carry gun. The manner in which I train with my carry guns is counter to such a sight.

Don't have one on my carry guns but target shooting i have a few. they do make aiming easier especially for old eyes. I keep one loaded by my bed with a shake and wake red dot. would never have one that needs to be turned on in a hurry situation.

That would kind of depend on what you use the pistol for, wouldn't it?

Before I read an article about Red Dots I got a Vortex Venom red dot and then I read the article and it said that if you have a astigmatism then the dot doesn't look like a dot and to me it looks like large cotton ball. And also color blind,, I did have cataract and corrective surgery which helped some plus I'm 70 yrs old

I had a chance to try one at a Sig course I took. Could be because of the learning curve (not enough time in the class to go through the curve), but currently I prefer the iron sights.
Plus I'm always concerned when there's a battery for the red dot sights....

Well the truth is ... Yes . I have suffered Detached Retina's in both eyes , complications have left me nearly blind in my right , dominant eye, and only half blind in my left eye . 7 rounds of surgeries and I no longer have a natural or implanted lens in either eye . Pistol competition (NRA Target Match Bullseye) was my passion for 20 years but the Detached Retina's and then later onset of Glaucoma robbed me of the ability to see / use iron handgun sights .
Then one day I picked up a used Ruger MKII Target that had a Millet SP-1 Red Dot Sight mounted on it ... the dealer say's you ever shoot with a red dot ? ... I say No ... He turns it on and says just put the dot on what you want to hit and squeeze the trigger ... Oh My Lord ...my prayers were answered ... I could accurately shoot again ! So ... Some of us , with vision problems so bad that regular pistol sights don't work , NEED red dot's to shoot with .
The Millet SP-1 is a large 1" dia. tube type sight , big and bulky but it worked ...
the small compact red dot's that are available now are just a God Send to some of us older shooters ... I hate to say it but I Need the Red Dot on my handgun !
