A 98 year old friend of mine, a WWII vet, gave me his father's Colt M1917 .45 ACP revolver a few months ago. His father had been a lawman during the Depression. The gun had a bulged barrel and no front sight as someone clearly had fired a squib round and then another into it. Seeing the piece was both unuseable and damaged, I had my gunsmith bob and crown the barrel behind the bulge, and add a front sight. And voila! The front sight he put on it is way too low, but I havent tested it out yet. But I think it looks pretty neat. For a gun made in 1919 (according to serial) I probably wont shoot it much. The smith said it was safe to shoot though.
