I am an avid cyclist who spends a bit of time training on the roads here. I have been threatened more than once while riding. Once by two guys in a pick-up who actually pulled over and were waiting for me to pass buy. Anyway, the thought crossed my mind that so many of you here talk about carrying 24/7 and wondered if there were any cyclist who carried while riding.

Inevitable

Wish I could find a place where Yahoos in cars didn't think the road was only created for them. Usually some fat slob who is just jealous that he hasn't seen his feet in years. :smt076

I always carry when riding my Trek around town. Always in a Tommy's Gun Pack.

Why would somebody not carry if they legally could?

I carried a beretta 22 when I cycled(non-competitive) a few years back. Around 630 am on a country road while cycling , a huge labrador came charging after me.I stopped my bike and hopped off, I was able to pull the 22 and let a round off into the ground and the dog stopped charging after me.I got back on the bike and started to ride again and the dog came charging again, fired another round into the ground, he stopped again. after proceeding I spotted a sheriff and flagged him down and explained what happened. Here in ny state they kind of frown upon shooting hand guns, damn liberals lol just kidding. I told the officer/sheriff that i was heading back up the road where the dog incident happened . So he followed me in his patrol car and when I reached the area the dog was still there and he comes charging again , this time the sheriff pulls out his gun and blocked the path of the charging dog. The sheriff went to the owners house and i'm not sure what he said . I was back cycling and feeling justified, the sheriff was very suspect on my use of the gun when I first flagged him down and explained what happened.

With the plethora of small handguns hitting the market, and new ways to "carry," it is very easy to safely carry a self-defense weapon while cycling. Just make sure you have a concealed carry permit with you at the same time.

I ride my bike to work on occasion and around a bit when the spirit moves me, I am no way an avid biker, I do not own any bike riding clothes. When I do ride I carry my gun. I have a small handle bar bag I think it is supposed to clip on behind the seat butt I put my weapon in it and when I get off I just grab it.

When I ride my motorcycle I just wear my gun like normal.
