is it a fair comparison? I believe so- yes. Same size gun, shoots the same ammo. If there was a competition- both guns would be in it. And many would choose the Glock- simply because it's a Glock. But some would choose the Ruger- because it shoots just as good and about half the price! Different people have different taste.
I don't remember for sure?- but I may not have ever fired a Glock. I have handeled several. My son has a G22, had it for many years. He was a deputy at one time and a security guard also. He likes his Glock- no doubt. BUT what gun does he carry?- My Kahr CW9! Why?.....I don't know.
I don't think Glocks are 'bad guns'. I don't see them as great either. So- which would I choose out of the two in the vid? Probably neither. Just not a fan of either. I do have a Ruger LCP Max in 380....it's ok, but not my favorite.
I know all that didn't help at all. But I was here...and had to run my mouth a little.

Well; I tried to like glocks years ago, and had five of them in total.
They’ve all been gone for many years now. 👍

I think I have owned 12 or 13 Glocks over the years,

I found this video interesting. The Ruger did much better than I expected it to do.

I think it is a viable option of the cheap people who always want to buy a Taurus. Either the fullsize or compact Ruger would be much better.

I passed my first concealed carry test, back in 1996, with the instructor's Ruger P89 (my Glock was damaged at the time - believe it or not :) ). And, I've owned 3 Ruger P95s over the years. Whenever I needed a cheap, beater vehicle gun. I'd buy the P95. Trigger was not as good as a Beretta. And, it wasn't quite as accurate. But, it was decent and it worked, for about $300.

If I needed a compact 9mm and didn't already love the Shield Plus platform so much (I have two 3.1" Shield Pluses and a 4" Shield Plus), I'd look at this...

That guy always wears me thin, but this time he is spot on. I have the full size Security 9 and it is the only thing I will even think about carrying beside my G23. It feels much thinner than the tale of the tape, and is lot easier to conceal. I am a thumb safety fan, so that is up my ally, and hate 9MM, so the fact it is that caliber and I still consider it says a lot.
Aftermarket support will never be what it is for Glock, I don't believe, but there is plenty out there if you bother looking. First thing I did was get a couple of 17 rounders for the Security 9, then a decent holster.
I'm not sure about the assessment on the trigger. It feels and appears to be a SA, plain and simple. Now, I never claimed to be any kind of expert, like most youtubers, and I didn't contact the company about it. He is right, they did a great job of the trigger, no matter what it is.
For the size and the G26, I won't be using one, I have a G26 that stays in the safe. I hate the thing. A G19 mag with a sleeve works pretty well, but that doesn't correct the funky carry feel. The short wide stature does make for an unusual and polarizing feel.
Have fun.

I have carried Glock 22,27 and 23 that were issued to me during my 33 years in law enforcement. That said, I never was a fan and when personal weapons were allowed, both before Glock and then again after we went back to personal weapons lists, I always chose something different. That being said, I see more reasons than not to select the ruler. I never liked the chunky feel of the 27 vs a slim profile weapon. Rugers have just a dependability factor that would make me go for it

I've been waiting for any of the local shops to get in the Ruger Security 380 and see how it feels in the hand. Before I part with my money

I've seen them on Gun Broker but the horror stories I've heard I don't think I'd trust them. One had one for sale at $399. But on Rugers site the MSRP is $369.

Let them get a year or two under their belt. Any first run is likely to have issues.
Ruger is usually pretty on top of things, and the good thing is the CS is superb, or was the one time I have ever needed them.
Some calibers are susceptible to problems, and IIRC 380 is one of them. Not always the case though. Not sure the size of the gun either, but as Shipwreck noticed in another offering, itty bitty's can be a problems to shoot. They should be reserved for accomplished shooters with good hands. Age and disability isn't on our side in many cases.

I carried an Officers Model for years. The thing was a brick. Heavy. Nice profile though.
Two things, it has plenty to hold on to, and it has a round with the "Brass" to cycle the slide with authority.
Short grips have become the craze for some reason. Add a very slim profile and an anemic round and you can very well have a recipe for problems.

Have had a Glock 26 since the mid ‘90s. A Glock 19 became my primary carry for several years. The 26 was a pretty obvious choice as back up or sub-compact alternative. The mag compatibility with the 19 sized mags was a decent perk for having the 26.

Since I already had the Glocks I just never needed to go down the path for another subcompact of the same basic type. Changing up to DA/SA for carry was what moved me from the Glocks for carry. Nothing else really justified it in my mind.

Still have my Glocks. Still shoot them every once in a while. Don’t really see getting rid of them.
