    Arlington, TX

Heading to Arlington, Texas tomorrow for work. Anything cool I should be aware of in terms of cool places to shoot? Any amazing ammo deals? Good places to eat? What's Wally World's price on CCI in Texas? Might just have to weigh my return baggage down a bit.

I don't know about Arlington, but there is Elk Castle in Fort Worth (or maybe its in White Settlement). Maximo, if he's around, and Propellerhead (is that right?) are from your area. You might try a PM to them if they don't pipe in.

Yes, Elk Castle is in west Fort Worth. Winchester Gallery is closer to Arlington. It's on the east side of Fort Worth. Exit Lancaster from I-820.

Walmart here has the cheapest ammo for .45 and .40 around. CCI Blazer Brass is $9.87 and $7.57 respectively. For 9mm, I go to Academy Sports. They have the CCI Blazer Aluminum for $6.98.

Walmart here, meaning all of Dallas, or is there a certain Walmart you're thinking of? For gawd sakes, I might have to bring another suit case for that cheap of ammo!!!!

I meant the Walmarts in my side of town -- southwest Fort Worth. I've found that the her out from the city center I go, the prices increase. It's weird. Based on some posts I've read, ammo costs more in Dallas. I don't know why.

    Okay, here's the new update:

Apparently, Southwest Airlines has a maximum of 11 pounds of ammunition that can be brought on board, which is new to me as I've flown on other airlines with no problems bringing about 20 pounds of ammo on board. I bought 8 boxes of .45, which equates to about 22 pounds of ammo, got to Southwest and they wouldn't let me take it all on!!

Even stopped by TSA after this fiasco and they said there's no limit on what I can take from a TSA standpoint, but Southwest ultimately has the last say.

So, I had to leave 4 boxes of Ammo at the Airport under my name. So what the heck do I do with 4 boxes of .45 ammo at Southwest in Dallas Love airport? Anyone wanna buy it at a discount price? This just kinda sucks, as I have about $45 in it, and unfortunately that's kind of a big deal for me right now. Anyone?

That sucks! Could you get them to mail it to you?

I could go pick it up if they'll release it to me but we're bordering on "Will it be worth it?" It's about a 45 minute drive for me to the DFW Airport. Do you know if they'll release it to someone else other than you? How much do you want for it?

Hey! Actually, it's at Dallas Love, so it may or may not be more worth it for you. I mean, heck, I'm thinking $35 (I spent around $43 with tax) just to try to salvage the situation and give a fellow handgunforum member a good deal on 4 boxes of .45 at the sake of my lesson learned (meaning call the airline before doing stuff like this). All I have to do is give you or whoever else buys it my full name and they'll release it to you.

They said they'd hold it for 5 days from yesterday, so I wouldn't expect a paypal payment until you or whomever goes there to pick it up and it is indeed there (which would hopefully happen early this week). The honor system seems to work pretty well for Texans

It always seems that when I try to do something difficult to try and save some money, it usually ends up costing more!!! Hah!

I'm travelling right now, so I'll try checking back here tonight to see if there's any takers.

Yikes! Love Field is like 1.0 to 1.25 hours away from me. Each way! Even her than DFW Intl Airport. I'm in the southwest end of DFW metro. For what it would cost me in gas (I drive a V8), I'd be better off going to the Walmart half a mile from me and buying four boxes of Blazer Brass at $9.57 each. Sorry. I wish I could help.

I'll check with a couple of buddies in the area that shoot .45ACP.

Anyone from the north east side of DFW want to jump in on some bargain .45ACP?

Edit: I hate to see good ammo go to waste. Someone has to get this and shoot it.

If Dan's nice enough, he might even share a box with me. Hahahaha...

Just hate to see good ammo to go waste.
