    Elk Castle shooting range

    I was in Azle this weekend visiting my son. He took me shooting at the Elk Castle shooting range in Fort Worth.

    Nice place ya'll have there.

    If we hadn't been pressed for time, I would have liked to announce my visit in advance, just in case any of you Foat Woth types were in the neighborhood.

    I must say, you didn't greet me very well on my trip in Friday afternoon. We were pulling our 29' fifth wheel through high winds that shifted from the north (at 42 degree temp) to the south (a bit warmer).

    Then you tried throwing hail at me, and finally a tornado.

    I ignored all, and finally made my way into CowTown RV park in Aledo.

    Made for an interesting trip.

    Sorry the welcome wagon wasn't out in full view. Everyone was hiding from the weather. Maybe next time.

    Elk Castle is my favorite range. They have a good group of people running the show and they run a tight ship. I was there once with my 18 yr old son and his 17 yr old girlfriend. Since his girlfriend was under 18 and without a parent or legal guardian, they wouldn't let her shoot. I was more impressed at how they stick with their rules than pissed that they wouldn't let it slide.

    It is my #1 spot to exercise my 2A rights. The folks there do, indeed, run a tight ship. It is a great place to shoot because they do not put up with any nonsense. They have a great gunsmith shop, too. Come on back when the weather is nicer. Typical Spring weather for Texas, though. My CZ's love it there.

    Elk Castle is about 2 minutes from my house. I shoot there in the winter and on hot summer days but I take the trip to Alpine Range just South of Ft. Worth if the weather is nice, like today.
    Propellerhead is right about their rules, I have seen them yank people off the range and tell them not to come back until they have a certificate of completion of a safety course.
