Another pending bill here in TX:

Bill No.: H. B. 511
Subject: Providing that a public employer could not establish, maintain, or enforce any policy or rule that has the effect of prohibiting a person licensed to carry a concealed weapon from transporting or storing a concealed handgun in a locked vehicle in any parking lot, parking garage, or other designated parking area.

Note however: This bill further specifies that this measure would not authorize a person licensed to carry a concealed weapon to carry a concealed handgun on any premises where the carrying of a concealed handgun was prohibited by state or federal law.

Thanks Ship for keeping us informed. Finally something good coming out of Austin. When I work downtown, I park in public garages that are owned by the building management and my employer cannot prevent me from keeping a weapon in my truck. But they also had another office where you parked on their property and would enforce the no weapons on premises by the occasional search at the gate. The same for working at the refineries on the ship channel that you cannot have a weapon in the parking lot eventhough it is outside the gate of the plant but is still on their own property.

It did not go anywhere. Sorry.

Besides, in order to get protection from the law, it had 1 problem - U had to go to your employer and TELL them U had a gun in your car.

Texas being a will hire state - They could essentially fire U for something else later, if they wanted too.

They needed it worded to let people keep it in their car and NOT have to say anything. Otherwise, its not a good bill...
