Talking The most ridiculous thing I ever did ...

Was to take my two teen-age sons waterskiing on the Aransas River. All we had was a 16' Flat-bottom aluminum boat with a 55hp Evinrude. It was built for the fishing the flats in the local bays. The boat had a polling platform on the back end, over the outboard motor. We looked a little like the Clampett's with Granny's rocking chair in the back.

We hooked up our ropes to the platform, through a boy out into the river, and took off. The little Evinrude was up to the challange, but the flatbottom meant we had to be REAL careful choosing where to turn around.

The Aransas River is populated by alligators, so there was a little extra motivation to stay on the skis. If you happened to be in the water, and the ski on your foot kinda drifted into your leg, it would give you quite a start.

We had a great time, but that was the one and only time we went skiing in the river.

There used to be a ski club that used the river (our inspiration). They called themselves Gator Bait. They have since moved to the Nueces River.

Oh yeah, this is a handgun forum.

Well, this was the most rediculous thing I ever did where I should have had a handgun with me!
