Good luck - I'd go, but it would be a 4 hour round trip - and gas is like $1 million a pint right now!
A friend and I are going to do our best to go to the Austin gun show next weekend to look around and try to sell his Bushmaster AR. He's going to get me a picture soon and I'll post it somewhere if anybody's interested.

Yeah, but think of the money you could save if you made a really good gun or ammo deal!![]()

I go to the big show in Houston - actually, I won't save much over the local price at Champion. For a gun store, they have the best in-store prices I see anywhere. So, I am very lucky. Only way to save a bit more money is over the net - by the time U pay the FFL transfer fee and shipping, it comes out the same. I do go to the gun show for fun - but add up gas, parking fees and entrance fees, and I save no money really. But, 4 hours round trip - no way I could make back that much money - sorryOriginally Posted by Charlie

Any luck selling that AR so far? I remembered seeing it posted here ...
Had a response from a guy from 1911.com but he quickly returned to the shadows! Jon is taking it to the Austin show tomorrow. He may be able to peddle it or trade for something. He could move it if he'd get off his butt and try a little harder.
Well, I have always sold a gun w/i a week - just put it on every gun site.
I've never had any trouble either. Jon took several days just to get me a picture and he teaches Photoshop and other computer graphics courses and has access to tremendous digital camera equip! Maybe it will go maybe not. The show is always interesting and we will enjoy seeing the different "types" of people that frequent the Austin show. Remember Austin's favorite bumper sticker, "KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD!"![]()

Well, the show was interesting. My friend sold his AR (to a dealer, no less!) and immediately bought another AR that he wanted more (flat-top, A4, etc.). I was very pleasantly supprised to see some decent prices on new guns from the dealers there. I was expecting the same old MSRP plus some on the new guns. I don't know if this is typical or not but if so, it looks like I'll add a little time to my road trips and go to Austin rather than San Antonio. Most of what I've seen in S.A. was always way overpriced.
The prices at the Houston gun show at the Reliant Center are usually VERY good.
Where is the Reliant Gun Show? I think you said Brown Convention Center? Where is that? I'm familiar with Houston somewhat but I don't think Brown was there (or not named Brown) way back when I lived there. I'd go if I'm close when they're having one. Going shooting, C U later.
Well, the Reliant Show is at the Reliant Convention Center - There is a new stadium and HUGE, HUGE convention center where the Astrodome is at - the pretty much have built all this new stuff, and the astrodome just sits there now.
The George Brown convention center is in the downtown area - almost next to the new baseball park - Minute Maid Park.
I've gone to the Reliant show many times, and went several times in the late 1990s when it was held at the Astrohall. I've never been to the Brown show yet, but may go to the next one, because the next Reliant show isn't until Oct.
Thanks for the info.
You were supposed to buy 1 or 2 new guns. It's a mandatory requirement upon entering a gun show!
