I've been through the same thing on another forum. I guess there are still some people out there who think a woman's place is in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, or in the bedroom, getting that way. Fortunately, I've found more men who are happy to see more women getting involved in guns and shooting than men who aren't. I'm a S&W fan. ALthough I don't own the 5906, I've heard a lot of good things about it from those who do own one. I think you'd be very happy with it. Simply put, one of the best S&W they made. It's accurate, reliable, durable, and heavy. If taken care of you will be able to leave it to your grandchildren.

I have never had one problem with it and I had it for 20 years.

The 5906 is a top notch firearm. I have fired the 5906(9mm) and the 4506 (45acp), they are IMHO one of the better firearms out there. I would have no problem picking up another one of those, unfortunately 1 day I decided not to carry it while I was on duty and it was stolen from my apartment.

I bought a 5906 for old time memories and it was in great shape.

It was a police trade-in.

I carried a 5906 as a duty weapon for over 10 years. It is heavy, but I loved it. Crazy accurate, low recoil, completely reliable, fun to shoot, and looks great. I have loaned it out to 4 different recruits who used it for police academy training. Every single one fell in love with it and wanted to buy it. Sorry, no sale! I will die with it.

Got me and my son each a 5906 a couple of months ago and got myself a 915 last week, Have about 400 rounds through my 5906 and put 150 through the 915 yesterday. It's amazing how well they both shoot, and you can feel the quality when you pick them up. I wish I had discovered them sooner.
