I've seen a lot of mixed reviews - even many unhappy people on the Sig forum.

I looked at them when they first came out. I don't really like the odd shape of the grip safety. Doesn't feel right in my hand. They look cool, though...

That is my opinion on them as well. I have not had a chace to give them a go however, but would be interesting to see how it matches up to my Springfield.

We had mixed feelings there today on how it felt in the hand, but I'm on the side of it feeling pretty good. I really liked it, save for the feed issues. But we're giving it time to break in. I'm pretty sure that I will personally be shooting the crap out of it, as well as the rest of the new rental Sigs, so if the feed issues turn out to be a real problem or a fluke, I'll let you know.

What the heck are we talking about here? I mean I can tell it's some kind of a new gun. Pictures, make, model.

Before I bought my TRP last Dec 9that is a story to itself, most here know why I no longer have it), I compared it to the 1st Sig Revolutions that were out at the time (not the original, troubled models, though).

I didn't like the grip safety, and I also don't really like the sig night sights, compared to other brands. So, I passed.

But, I'll tell ya. They sure look sweet

OK thanks Gunut & SuckLead for the pictures. I didn't know Sig was coming out with a 1911/.45. My only question is will after market pieces work in it? Looks like they should. From the pictures it's a good looking automatic.
SuckLead tell them to try Wilson or MecGard magizines in it, and if it don't work then, something is out of spec.

They've actually been out since last year...

Wheeee! Another nice looking Sig. Big Surprise! Actually, I've read (and saw pictures) were Sig is coming out with a new 226. The P226 'Elite'. Not sure what the fuss is all about, except it has a beaver tail. Could be the same model internally, but changed cosmetically on the outside.

$1000+ for a cast (not forged) gun that malfunctions on every magazine? I think I'd let SIG keep that "winner." If I wanted a cast 1911 that jams, I'd buy an Auto-Ordnance and save $600.

Hey Sucklead if they are going to pay $1OOO for that one try a S&W 1911/45 for about $700 or $800 that works right out of the box. You can get a Colt for that kind of money too. If you want one for less get a Springfield for about $500. I sure wouldn't give a $1000 for that one. Each to his own I guess.

Oh, I had no intention of buying it. I won't pay that kind of money for a handgun. I know that seems petty, but $1000 is too much for me to spend on something I'm not going to want to get dirty. Right now, my budget allows for what I need so things I want will be years away from buying... and what I need I already have. So I never had any intention of buying one.

I've read more posts on many different forums about not willing to pay $800.00, $2200.00 or $400.00 on a particular handgun. Most of us have been around firearms for years. Every top quality brand name maker has a few lemons thrown into their inventory. My $550.00 Walther is more accurate than my $1500.00 custom built S&W auto. I too swore I'd never pay more than $800.00 for a handgun. And to be honest, had I known the Walther would outshoot the Smith (accuracy only), I would not have bought it. But, I did because it was available, I like the model and I wanted it. Most important, and I realize this is not the case for many, funds had been put aside for that purchase amount. Plus, I had to trade-in a couple other firearms to meet the price. If I were to add up all the cash I've wasted away on miscellaneous crap over the past few years, I could have purchased a good quality handgun. The prices are not going lower, they are raising. At my age (which is probably older then many on this forum) I only have three hobbies: golf, biking and handguns. None of the equipment is cheap. Hell, my road bike costs $700.00, which is far from top of the line models. It's not cheap, but very good and it'll last longer than me. Life is too short and the world is getting rougher each day. Bite the bullet, buy it and enjoy it.

I am with you SigZagger on that. Enjoy what you can while you can. Bet them clubs cost a chunk of change too. Have a good one.

I agree w/ U. I don't have it any longer due to a refinishing issue (I've mentioned it in the past a few times). But last December, I bought a Springfield TRP 1911 - a $1200 1911. Imagine my irritation when I found that I shot my SW99 (my P99 clone) better than that $1200 gun, and my SW99 was only $439.

SInce then, I have a fullsize Walther P99 that I shoot better. I love 1911s, and want one everytime I look at em. But, I keep asking myself why bother when the ammo costs so much more than 9mm, and the ones I like are in the $800-$900 range at a minimum.

If I find something I really, really want, I'll dish out the cash for it if there ever comes a time that I can actually do that. I don't make enough money right now to save any, it all goes to bills, unfortunetly. I'd really like a Sig P220 Equinox and a Remington 870 (especially that) and I imagine some day I will have one of both. But I suppose "cheap" is an inherited trait that I got from my dad. I was willing to dish out the $700 on my P226 because, at the time, it was a needed weapon. I'd spent 8 months researching guns (at the time I had no clue about guns, I was just learning) and the Sig was way out of my price range. But at that point, I was looking for a weapon that I would carry with me while transporting large sums of money, and I was issued a gun that no longer fired, so my life depended on it. I am hoping to some day be able to buy guns that I really want and not just what I need. And right now even a Hi-Point is out of my price range.

Point: if I ever get to a point that I can afford to spend on guns and maybe get into competition shooting, too, since I would like to do that (but I need to get my confidence up, too) I might consider getting something that now I wouldn't even dream of spending on. I'd love a really, really good 1911, a really good single action revolver, several shotguns, military surplus rifles (I would be in heaven if I could get me a Garand), etc. My dream is to be able to buy the largest safe I can and then challenge myself to fill it up with stuff I want.

I am still reading many negative comments on this gunline. I don't think it is ready for primetime yet.

I will say that I still look at them everything I go into my local shop. Sig came out with some cheaper models w/o night sights, and with the solid trigger. They look really sweet. But.........

I don't own one, nor would I ever shell out the money for one. The malfunctioning I was referring to was described in the original post. I'm glad yours works for you, though. 1911 types are often hit and miss.

Guess I'm a traditionalist. 1911's ain't supposed to have rails hanging under them.
