    S&W Sigma Vs Glock 17

I'm looking to purchase a semi- auto 9mm saw where the S&w Sigma is selling for about $300.00 new. and the GLOCK 17 is quite a bit more even used . I've done a little research on my own but would like to hear from people on a personal level. Thanks for your input and advice....

pretty much the same gun, since s&w copied the glock so blatantly that when glock sued them they settled quickly with a nice cash payment and a portion of each sigma sold..... but that was way back in the day when dinosaurs (like me) roamed the earth

Remember that term " you get what you pay for " the Smith&Wesson Sigma series in my opinion as a FFL dealer is a mass hurry and produce firearm, they have had alot of problems with them over the years. Now question is are you looking for a carry gun if so, Dont trust your life with a cheap gun. I for one am not fond of Glocks either I prefer all metal firearms with external hammer. But glock have been around for years and alot of Law Enforcement Agencies have their officers carry them for a duty firearm. if its good for them then it would be good for you. If you like the grip angle and the feel of it. But as a Instructor, I say go to a local gun shop and handle as much as you can and find a local range that rents guns and try out a few and then when you find the one you are comfortable with then that would be the one for you. good luck in choosing the firearm and hope you find one that you would like.

Thanks for your input had figured as much with the Sigma seeing the price range is so low for a new firearm there had to be a reason

The Sigma is exactly what you pay for and in spite of what others said they are totally reliable, check the forums for the owners and see what they say, they have a very heavy trigger pull (10 + lbs)and it is not safely able to be reduced, the ergonomics are excellent, but if economics are not a prime consideration the M&P will make a better long term purchase.....I owned two Sigmas 9mm and .40, and a Glock 23 and the Sigmas were just as reliable and accurate as the Glock, sold all three and bought Sigs and much prefer Hammer fired over striker......the people knocking the Sigmas are almost always not owners but just repeating what they heard or read on the internet.....

More aftermarket support for the Glock. The Glock has a better trigger. The Glock has a standard rail. The Sigma feels better in the hands and looks better IMHO and priced cheaper. Equal money - take the Glock, but the Sigma is usually a better value in the stores. If you are can adapt to the revolver-like heavy DA trigger and put up with folks trashing the gun, you'll be pleased with a Sigma. Mine has been 100%.
