hmmm...argue your case...
I've never carried before now, but I'm going to be taking my CCW class soon and I'm not sure what I want to carry. I'm looking at these three:
SAXD-9 Sub Compact- I really like this gun (I have the tactical version) and it would be my ideal carry gun except that it's fairly thick and I don't really want to "dress" around it so to speak. This will be my only carry gun so I'm not going to have a summer carry and a winter carry etc...
Sig 232- I love sigs and am growing on the idea of a single stack pistol for the thinner profile. I'm a little concerned about the .380 ACP.
Snub nose revolver- This is one of those guns that I've wanted for a long time, but really haven't had a reason to buy. I like the idea of a revolver for carry, but I would like to have more than 5 rds.
Help me out...build your case.
Maybe an Springfield EMP ...
I am very much like you. I don't like a bulky pistol, I tried carrying an XD for a while but went back to a 1911. I don't have a solution but maybe a suggestion...
Recently Springfield came out with an EMP which is a 9mm single stack in the 1911 platform that's pretty dang thin.

Another aspect to consider
I practice with my XD9 service. I have put over 10,000 rounds through it and now I shoot IDPA with it. For home defense, I keep my XD45 service near me at all times. For concealed carry, I have my XD40 subcompact. I am very familiar with the XD. The point I want to bring up is that all three pistols operate the same. I have committed reloading a magazine to muscle memory. The sight picture I need to acquire is always the same. If I get into a SHTF situation at home or while CCW, I don't have to figure out if this pistol has the manual safety on it or if this pistol has a special magazine release or if this pistol is a revolver. Why practice with a knife then fight with a sword?
