Wittness .45 range report

Well gang my first day at the range with my .45 Witness was outstanding. When I got there the range owner introduced himself and the safety officers. I had to go thru a 18 min NRA safety film read all the range rules and tour the range. It is structured very well. And safety was over everything.. As luck would have it I was the only one there. When I opened the case to show my .45 they all were curious about it. None of then had ever seen one and only one ever heard of them. Each one took a turn holding it and mock firing it. They all said the same thing about it. “Damn it feels nice” By that ... they explained not just the way it felt in there hands but the way it was balanced. They all had very positive comments, from how it looked to the solid feel and they ALL love the trigger feel/pull in SA and DA mode. They played with that a lot.
Now it came time to have some fun. I loaded my 3 mag, with 10 rounds each 1 OEM mag and the other 2 where Mec-Gar, which I got yesterday. On a side note the quality of the Mac-Gar were great and fit in the gun with ZERO slop I can’t say that about the OEM one. I had NO problems with either one thou. I shot my first 3 mags at a target 25 yards down range, just to get a feel for it And it felt great, the recoil “I” think was not that big of a deal, it was less than what I anticipated, the trigger pull was right on every time no surprise either. I let the 2 safety guys put a mag thru it for the opinion. Again the trigger they thought was tight and the recoil was very “smooth”. All my rounds were from the center of the target and below. As was there’s They both said not to mess with anything yet on the gun until you put at least 600-1000 rounds thru it. Right now just get use to the feel. Also they had my put another target up and bring it to 7 yard mark. “IT’s easier to see were your placing and see you grouping”. All in all I put about 250-300 rounds thru it. I had zero issues with the Witness , she shot with ZERO issues. The safety officer gave my some good pointers on holding the gun and the proper stance. Also for now shoot at the 7 yard target until the gun settles in and use the same line of site. The pics show my first 30 rounds at 25 yds. And the second pic show 7 yds 10 round grouping and the last pic was same as the second pic but with and added 15 rounds.

Good range report with pictures there Mr.Sas. Glad you are having a good time with your new gun. You said you got two MecGar mags and they worked good. That's what I buy myself and I never have had a problem with them. Have fun and enjoy. Good luck.

Outstanding. Glad to hear it went so well. The Witness has the best ergonomics out there, so much more comfortable in the hand than a G___k or even a 1911. I don't know why they aren't more popular. My theory is that they don't charge enough, so people think they must not be good. If they would raise their prices to the SIG level, people would be lining up around the block to buy them.

I agree milquetoast, both of the safty guys thought that the price was really low. He wanted to see how the gun would be at the 1000 round mark. He is very interested in getting one. He packed a Beretta and the other one a Colt Elite. They really liked the feel of it. I already ordered custom grip for her. I think these are breath taking. IMHO

WOW where did you get those custom grips? They are fantastic, I need to get them for my Witness. I don't understand this gun. Three companies that I know of sell them under different names. The EAA made the witness in the lower 300's, CZ sells them in the upper 300's and the Armalite Handguns sells them in the upper 400's as the AR24 and all of them are the same. You might find the safety lever just a bit different but you would have to look hard. I was at the range the other day and this guy was shooting his Witness 45 and it was over ten years old. He couldn't tell me for sure but thinks he's put 8K through it and it had the wonder finish. Still looked good and he has carried this gun for 10 years and you can see the wear from it but it still looked good.
How come EAA can sell them cheaper than anyone. I think this secret is out of the bag and I bet the price goes up with demand. I hope I am wrong. Great looking gun and those grips make it look worth 2K. I like the piture the way you put it on the map. We should have a picture contest having people take a picture of one of their pistols and not grade it on what type of pistol but what kind off back ground and extras they put into the pictures. Just a suggestion. Love the map man.

Go here http://www.czgrips.us/eaa_witness_tanfoglio.htm and scroll down to the Arizona Desert wood grips. Those are the one I odered. I agree I think that the grips really bring out the Wonder finish on the gun. I already contact the gentleman he informed me that it takes about 5 week to make... I think its worth it all the way. Those are the 9mm models. I wish the CZ 97B was in the upper 300s. I'd have one already. Magnum Research also has their own variant of the CZs that they currently call the "Baby Eagle"(Jericho). Many would argue that the other brands are of better quality though the EAA is no slouch.

It's a quality, accurate pistol. With more practice your groups will tighten up.

I was referring to the discussion of the prices of the pistols which I assume was what he was discussing.
