First time poster here from Winston Salem. Was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on my first purchase. My list is Sig 226 or 229, H&K USP, S&W M&P, and Walther P99. In either 9mm or.40 S&W. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Glad to be here.

IMO, you have really good guns listed. Rent them, shoot them, and go with what you like. Guns are like shoes; what's comfortable and good for one person is horribly bad for another. Only you will be able to make the final decision.
Check out the dedicated sections on each gun as well, you may get some more input.

Todd has some good advice, either rent or borrow the guns on your list. Then do some shooting, the one you like best is your new gun.

I have an M&P9 and love it. It takes anything you want to feed it reliably. Even my re-loads!

Welcome from down in the swamp. Todds got it right as guns are like your drawers, one size does not fit all. Just stay with a quality gun maker and you will do alright..

I like the "drawers" analogy. I'm just trying to read up on all the info I can find on each one. Once I find a range in my area, hopefully I can get some firing time in. Thanks again for everyones insight.
