Gun Show
There has been several suggestions to buy at a gun show.
Question,
1.How does the purchase at a gun show work, with the back ground check required? Never bought at a show before.
2.Are there any laws reguarding sale to a private party of handguns. Thinking of posting a notice to sell in town. Anything I should know?

Purchasing a firearm at a gunshow from a dealer entails all the paperwork and requirements that you would complete at their gunshop.
The paperwork and requirements for purchasing a firearm from a person (private sale) vary according to your state law. Some states prohibit private sales, some permit private sales only for long guns, some it's only a matter of showing a drivers license, etc. It depends on where you live.

Well - your #2 question depends on your state. Every state has its own rules.
For #1 - here in Texas, if you have a CHL, U need not go thru the background check. U can pay and leave. If you do not, the dealer just calls that FBI # and they do the check on U. U usually leave in 15 minutes unless they screw up, like they sometimes do, and put a hold on U - that happens a lot, from what I hear, because some criminal someplace may have the same name as U.

Any knowledge of Montana Law? We have a Trader Paper out of Kalispell and I saw a Colt 1911 for sale by PP.
Don't want to post a notice and have the police beatin down my door.
Thanks

Montana Law
Just checked, there are no restrictions on the sale of handguns to private party.
