I'm having a hard time trying to decide if I should get the FNP 40 or the S&W M&P 40.
Have shot neither but heard good things on both and have handled them at the gunshops here in town. Both feel good. It would be a shooter and probably not my usual carry weapon.
Does anyone have both and what do you like about each? If you could only keep one, which would it be?

Well, do U want a trigger the same on every shot (Like a Glock) or a DA?SA trigger?
I tried the trigger on a FNP, and it was mighty smooth. I ALMOST considered selling my USP compact and buying a Ruger 22/45 and an FNP9.
I decided not to, but I really want an FNP eventually...
The M&P doesn't feel that good in my hand.
i own neither but have shot both. i must say that i was impressed with the FNP in both 9mm and 40 cal. that is a smooth gun with great action. i was also less impressed with the M&P series. i only tried the 40 cal version and was sick of it after the first mag - not foe me. the only pro i see for the M&P over the FNP is the popularity leading to easier accessable holsters and mags.
Seems that finding holsters for either is a major PITA.
Especially since I am left handed.
I went by the local gun shop and handled both side by side and was really impressed by the FNP 40. It seems to feel better in my hand, so I am leaning in that direction.
Will hopefully make the plunge by tomorrow morning.

Does Galco make neither?
Mike from Galco is a member here, although he may have gone off to afganistan already. U can try PMing him. He can tell U who to call at Galco - they may be able to substitute another holster that will fit the FNP.
Bought the FNP 40 yesterday.
Unfortunately I will be out of town for work and won't get to the range until next week.
If it shoots as good as it feels, it will be a great weapon.
At the gunshop I was able to compare the FNP 40 to the S&W M&P 40 side by side and the FN was better for me. I am sure the S&W is a good weapon but the FN seemed to call my name.:rolleyes:
Now if I can just find a holster I like... was hoping for something like the Blackhawk Serpa, but they said they didn't make one for it.

Kewl, congrats!
Finally got to the range to fire the new FNP 40.
Shot 150 rounds through it with no problems of any kind. Used three different kinds of hollow points from 155grs, 165gr and 180grs plus some WWB pratice rounds.
This weapons hit point of aim and is more accurate than I am by far.
Very happy with the purchase and found that one of my old pancake style holsters from galco fora HK compact fits it.:mrgreen:

Now you have a rill gun not the out dated plastic thats still comming out.
