Nighttime Micro Quakes Rock Winston-Salem Area
Forsyth County -- Officials at the U. S. Geological Survey confirms that a pair of micro earthquakes struck near the same area of Winston-Salem as Tuesday morning's 2.6 micro quake.
The preliminary reading was 1.5, according to USGS spokesperson Dale Grant. The epicenter was 36.088 degrees north, 80.331 degrees west. That is 4 miles WSW from Winston-Salem, 5 miles east from Lewisville and 5 miles NE from Clemmons.
Another micro quake, measuring 2.4, struck at 9:11 p.m. The epicenter was located at 36.079 degrees north, 80.213 degrees west. That is 3 miles ESE from Winston-Salem, 6 miles SSW from Walkertown and 8 miles WSW from Kernersville.
There have been no reports of damage.
