What is the best for you?

I had a fun little day at the range yesterday! I put about 400 rounds through my HK .45 with not one problem. Even at the end of the day I could pull in nice little groups! I have never been let down by this pistol and it is the hands down most accurate gun I have ever shot. I prefer the .45 simply because I like it recoil and its accuracy. It is also a proven defense round. Everyone has reasons for what they like. In a defense situation any round is better then nothing so I do not discriminate between what people choose to use.

What gun is your #1 most reliable and accurate? What caliber do you choose and why

Ruger KP97DC.

I am the most accurate at distance with my Colt Python .357. At about 40' I start hitting good with my S&W 1911/.45. I have shot the wheel gun all my life, and I just got into the auto's in the last year.

1911 in 45 ACP

Well, to be honest, all of my guns are 100% reliable. I have yet to have an issue w/ any. And, I wouldn't keep them if I did have a problem. But, if something happened, I'd probably grab my P99 or my Glock 34 first.

As for my HK, I have put about 900 rounds thru my USP compact, and I am finally getting consistent w/ it at 7 yards. For a while, I kept shooting low w/ it. I let someone try it yesterday at the range, and they shot low w/ it too. It's taken me several trip to the range w/ it to get it to aim where I want. Not sure why. But, I guess like some people have to practice w/ a Glock, the USP compact takes some people some practice as well.

As for caliber - I do like 45ACP. But, it gets very expensive at the range. So, I've gone to all 9mm. And, I am satisfied with that caliber.

Like Ship, all my guns have been 100% reliable. The only hiccups have been ammo problems. All my guns are 9mm, for now, but it is a toss up between my M&P and my Baby Eagle as to which I am more accurate with. I fall more into the shot placement catagory than into the caliber, so I go with 9mm for price and high capacity. The 45. is really my favorite round to shoot, I really like the recoil of a 45., but it can get really expensive to shoot.

I’ve had the Glock 23 for about fifteen years so am use to the .40. I do think I was more accurate with my Ruger Security Six on single action (.38 or .357). I do want to try a .45 1911. I shot one once and enjoyed it. I keep reading that the recoil is better than the .40.

Smith & Wesson Model 29-3. I simply prefer the .44 Rem Mag even though I get funny looks sometimes when I say so. I'm actually more accurate with it than any autoloaders I've used. Weird, huh?:rolleyes:

For the pleasure of shooting I prefer my Ruger Old Model Super Blackhawk .44 mag. It is more accurate than any of my semi's and more fun to shoot. It is also more versatile. I can load it with very hot loads or very mild target loads (or anything in between) and it is 100% reliable with all loads.

Hey Gunut: I like shooting both. It took a little while for me to get use to it, as it is a little different feel. Most of my carry guns over the years have been stub noses. During that time I have learned to point shoot more than sight shoot. I have allways sighted with my Python at the range, but I never packed that. I am getting use to hittting what I point at with my 1911/.45. Same thing I tell a new shooter practice,and practice some more.:mrgreen:

My most accurate is my Smith & Wesson 686. I'm not very accurate, though. LOL! This is your brain on very little practice, I'm afraid.
