How do you describe the recoil from a 40 S&W? When I describe the recoil of a 40 S&W I say it is snappy. In other words, the 40 S&W is a sharp/fast recoil compared to a blunt/slow push backward with a 45acp. I admit it, due to the 40s sharp/fast recoil I shoot it about the least of any caliber. I also admit that I see little a 40 S&W can do that I cannot do with a 45acp or good 9mm load. Regards, Richard :D
I agree with you Richard on the snap recoil of the .40S&W. I have shot that round in two different guns,and it was snappy in both. I like the push of the 1911/.45 a lot better. I am way more accurate with it. I have never shot the 9mm rd yet. Hope to someday.
I'm trying to remember what the recoil was like when I shot my S & W MP40. I've only been to the range with it one time and then only shot about 200 rounds. I remember expecting a greater recoil than my SW9VE and being pleasantly suprised. The recoil of my MP40 was quite manageable. Not the least bit uncomfortabe. When I returned from the range I told my wife, who usually shoots a 9mm a Baby Desert Eagle, that she would like shooting it. So, I guess the recoil is no big deal. :)
That said, I've only shot a 1911 45 caliber one time (about 5 rounds) and I agree it has an entirely different recoil. Now I know why 1911 fans are so fanatical!!!! :rolleyes:
Now I didn't say it wasn't manageable now. I said it was sanppy compared to a .45. It's like anything else you got to get use to it.
