Licensing and background checks
Don't own a gun but I fully agree with our 2nd amendment and want to keep my right to purchase should I choose to buy one in the future.
What happens if someone initially passed a background check and legally purchased a gun and later was convicted of a felony irrespective whether the gun had anything to do with the conviction?
Is this person required to give up his license to own?
Are their weapon(s) taken away from them?
Thanks!
Re: Licensing and background checks
Yes, once you are a convicted felon you are inelligable to own, possess, carry a firearm. Carry permit, purchase permit will be revoked/null and void.
If convicted, one has the option to pursue restoration of thier right to own etc.
Re: Licensing and background checks
Also, typically the firearms are not taken unless part of the crime and can be sold or otherwise disposed of or gifted to family members etc.
