New Yorker's say goodbye to AR"S and high cap magazines.
Assault Weapons Ban Vote passed by 43-18 in senate and sure to pass the democratic house and be signed by the tyrannical Governor, with the support of the NY sheeple..I assume they feel safer as of this minute. During the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban homicides sharply rose in it's effect. Columbine, the OK City Bombing, and 10 other school shootings occured during this time period w/ less than 3% of crimes being commited by so called assault rifles and high capacity magazines. I just hope that history won't repeat itself. The cure for NY is that some criminals commit violent acts w/ firearms and the answer is to greatly infringe upon the gun rights of the law abiding populace....No guns for anyone except the military and LE and no problems is the motto.

I am sure that the nice gun shop owners in Vermont will be happy to give them a couple of bucks for those mean black guns if they ever want to sell.

Governor Cuomo warns New Yorkers, however, that if any of them ever cross the line into Vermont, their rights of New York State citizenship will be immediately terminated and automatically revoked.
I could only WISH he could further terminate my rights.

10 rounds was the limit in NYS until yesterday. Any 10 round magazine purchased before yesterday is still legal to possess BUT may only be loaded with 7 rounds. Any pre-ban magazine capable of holding more than 10 rounds must be surrendered within 1 year of yesterday or sold out of state.

Actually, ACTIVE LEO's are exempt. The amendment is for RETIRED LEO's.

Actually ACTIVE LEOs are not exempt either.

My understanding is that, while the statute's language itself did not articulate an exemption, the "enabling" or "purposing" language which introduced the legislation into both legislative chambers, did. It is this which the Governor apparently relied upon when at least one NY State Sheriff protested that active LEO's were not exempt and Cuomo responded that they were.Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.
