I am a handgun virgin!
I used to own a Mossberg 600 12 gauge about thirty years ago. I've also visited indoor firing ranges with friends and have fired mostly 1911 platforms such as S&W, Taurus, and Colt. My main interest is home defense and concealed carry since I live in a metropolis of roughly 1.3 million people and there's a modest amount of crime in my area. My main line of home defense right now is an aluminum ball bat which has limited effectiveness:rolleyes:
I am looking primarily at the Glock 19 gen 4 and the Ruger LC9. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

FNH's FNX series, CZ RAMI series or Compact Models. If you've got some dough, look into HKs...P30, USP Compact.
Don't just get a new gun. Become active in the fight to preserve our 2A rights. We need everybody on deck and nobody not pulling an oar...

Same suggestions as a thousand times before....go rent, go shoot, make up you're own mind....no one can pick your firearm for you.

I decided to go with the Ruger LC9 as my carry. Heard lots of great feedback on this one. Shot one and it felt good. Will be taking the wife with me on weekends to the range so that she becomes comfortable with it. Down the road I want to get a full size 1911 or two.
