Hello from NV

Hi there. My name is Emily.

I made the mid-year resolution that I would carry by the end of this year. I recently purchased a Sig P238, my first handgun, and thought I'd acquaint myself with the more experienced shooters. I had tried the P938, which I immediately dubbed as The Exfoliator. I ultimately chose the P238 based on my grip, gun size, and caliber.

I welcome you too, to the nation of people who believe they are endowed with the ability to defend themselves.

It sounds like you made a well-considered "choice" decision based on your ". . . mid-year resolution that I would carry . . .".
Are you planning (or have started) "training" for CCW ? Do you have prior experience in rifles/shotguns ?
Us old guys are really interested in the "stories of newbies".

I have no prior knowledge in rifles/shotguns. In fact, I just fired my first of both during 2012. I fired a rifle at a outdoor range, and I fired a shotgun at a sporting clay course. (I hit a few...by a few...I mean like...4/21. I'm doing something wrong for sure, as I found a lovely bruise on either side of my bra strap later that day.)

I did train and submit my paper work for my CCW. I received a 100% written and 349/360 on the firing test. Maybe I had high hopes, but I expected better from myself. You can never practice enough. I had never fired at paper before (or in an indoor range). When I started the test, I fired at a speed I was comfortable with.... only to watch the paper move with each shot. I really just needed to remember to breathe and slow down.

I turned all of my paperwork in towards the end of October. Not sure when or if I'll receive my CCW card. I imagine that if I had failed somehow, I would be notified?
