I'm a new to shooting and just recently purchased a XD 9mm service and I love it. I try to shoot as much as I can. I joined this forum to find out more information on shooting and also to help with purchasing a second handgun that I could use for home protection.

Hello and welcome, that XD 9 is a good start for home protection. Now comes the hard part, learning to use it correctly and well, read and ask questions on the forum, maybe get some instruction if you can. Learn the pistol, how to take care of it, shooting drills, stoppage/jamming clearing drills and more. Most important, don't forget to some times to go shooting for the fun of it.
