California/Military

While I am NOT new to handguns by any means, I am going to be new to California soon. I realize their are some screwy laws regarding make, design and mag cap. However, I also know their are some legal ways to lawfully own a handgun with more than a ten round capacity. Anyone know how that works? If you are military, can you bring prior owned firearms into CA as part of your household good?

Standard response from most people here will be ask a lawyer. California's gun laws are convoluted enough that you really want to check with someone who knows what they're dealing with.
