Hey, thank you for taking me in
Greetings from Chile.
Gun bashing and propaganda is alive and well here. However, there is a IPSC/IDPA and target shooting sporting base that (hopefully) won't allow for harsher restrictions on possession and use of firearms. Still, getting a permit is mildly expensive but easy. Written test, background check and a psychiatric interview that's a joke. Carrying is forbidden unless you are very well connected (carry permit can be granted for "exceptional reasons" - top local tycoon has one as other 69 "regular" people - in a 16 million country)
It's humbling to remember that the founding values of the US (individual freedoms) don't apply everywhere. South American culture has what I could call "monarchy nostalgia". A more than comfortable number of people are convinced that state institutions are supposed to solve your problems.
Hope this will be an interesting experience in exchanging views.
I'm new to guns and still don't own anything. I borrow one of my shooting club's guns for practice and IPSC classes - a Glock 22. But can't get used to the ugly thing and its weird trigger. Will probably buy a Beretta PX4 or a M&P (.40). Or the Glock, who knows?
