New from Thumb area of Michigan

Ready to shop for first handgun. Currently learning some about gun rights. Wonder, when I purchase, What things might I be required to do or tolerate by some sellers (who knuckle under to political pressure) which are contrary to the current law of acquiring a gun?
What step will I go through and how long does the process take? I am going to purchase only, for now. No CCW.
Pardon me if I sound too uptight or if I seem to be getting my information from radical rights nuts. Since I AM buying a handgun partially to exercise my rights, I want to make sure that I go into it as if I actually know my rights:rolleyes:

If you're talking about buying a gun directly from an individual, then there is nothing you are "required to do or tolerate". The seller sets the conditions (including the price), and the buyer either follows them, or doesn't get to buy that gun. If there is something that you don't like about the terms or the price, you can tactfully ask them about it, and based on the answer, maybe negotiate a bit, but if you want the gun badly enough, you follow the set terms and pay the price, or go and buy somewhere else.

At least that's the way it works when I sell a gun.

Is there something specific you were wanting to know about?

I will be buying from a dealer.
I guess that whats on my mind is the background check. Wasn't that part of the Brady Bill and wasn't that overturned? If it is still in effect, is it a on-the-spot requirement or a wait-wait requirement?

Background check (Federal) is On the spot when you purchase, laws on waiting period etc vary from state to state and gun store is a reliable source for requirements in your state. Try to find a gun store/range that rents and try different ones to get and idea of what works best for you. First one might stay with a 9mm. Radical rights nuts are in my opinion ordinary folks who wish to again find the freedoms the Constitution guarantees us and many on here including myself support that.....JJ
