Hello everyone. I am interested in a Tactical Pen. My goals for use are aminly as an EDC pen. I want to use it for writing and as an iPod Touch stylus and lastly as a defensive weapon as a very last resort. I am not looking for the pen as a weapon but rather want a nice sturdy pen that is a quality writing instrument but has a "tough" look to it. Can you get by with a $15 pen o do you really need a $100 pen? :)
iPods and iPhones work off heat. A stylus won't work on one. I personally would carry a knife that is designed to be a weapon instead of a tool that can serve as a weapon. A tactical pen could be a backup weapon, but I would seriously hesitate to rely on it as a primary weapon. My 2 cents anyway.
A few months ago I picked up a Smith & Wesson Tactical pen off amazon for around $25 (I think). It's nice and heavy, and you can use Parker pen refills for it.

I use a cheap $5 plastic stylus with my iPod Touch all the time. I find it easier to use that way and I do not hit the wrong letter while typing and I am more precise when touching icons. Some how I do not do it right with my finger. :) Like I said the goal of the pen is to have a nice heavy feeling pen in hand when you are writing and also use as a stylus. I am looking at a tactical pen because of their looks, colors, and build quality over a plastic pen or a designer pen that is more at home in an office. :)

Could someone explain the purpose of a "tactical pen" please? I looked them up and only got more confused... I found pens.
Based on the one I have it also can be used as a weapon...made of heavy aluminum with a sharp pointed cap.....JJ
I just can't help but picture a digital camo Papermate with a picatinny rail and a collapsible cap.
