Storage

Any opinions on handgun storage?? Im thinking of putting my gun safe in my garage. My only concern is temprature. The garage is not climate controled. The temprature varies from 35 (winter) to 95 (summer). Should I be concerned about the cold temps??

I would be more concerned about humidity control during warm weather than cold temperatures.

I have a good friend with two safes in his garage that is not heated. He does keep those boxes of gel in there but there's things in there that are never brought out but maybe once a year to inspect and clean and I have not seen any troubles.

No, because you can purchase a small heating element made specifically for this kind of thing.

I would also agree that your main concern would be humidity, and this can also be controlled.

I carried the same ammo from Arizona to Alaska back to Arizona then Texas for a while and back to Arizona. It was around 40 years old when I decided to shoot it all up. It had been stored in every condition you might imagine from tin shed to moving van to air conditioned spaces.

Every round performed as it was supposed to.

I don't worry about it anymore.

I would agree that ammo is not nearly as susceptible to humidity damage as would be a firearm.....
