I did it!

Well walked into the local gun store to pickup up a Walther P22 but ended up with.....

Very nice .22. Much cheaper to shoot than a .45

I know the .45acp 1911's can be converted to .22 but can the rimfire target be converted to .45?

Not sure, I'll have to check with Kimber. This one has an all aluminum frame and slide so am not sure if that has anything to do with the durability of the .45acp vs the .22.

No doubt! I was not totally sold on the P22 or the Skeeter and I could not find much positive about the ammo issue. The Ruger and Browning just did not swoon me.

I was in one of our local gun store's to buy the P22, figuring I could sell it if I was not happy. While there, I was looking at their Kimber collection and noticed one of them was a .22. My wife could see I was all excited about finding it. She asked "would you like that over the Walther"? My reply, "Oh, absolutely!". She said, "then buy it. It is gorgeous". I love this woman!!!!:smt033

Well, took the Kimber to the range twice this week. Our indoor range would not let me shoot High Velocity ammo as the manual recommends. I ended up having to buy some Armscor Precision .22 LR Standard velocity 40 grains. I had FTF's, FTE's, FTL. I was thinking "Oh great, this is a piece of crap. An expensive POC at that".

We went back to the range this weekend and shot Federal's in the 525 pack and that was much better but not entirely satisfactory. I also bought Remington Cyclone High velocity and bingo! Ended up shooting a couple hundred rounds of that and had just a couple of FTF. Tried shooting those same rounds in my son's Neos and found they were plain ole duds.

Fun gun and pretty accurate:numbchuck:.

hope you don't mind me asking... how much did the Kimber set you back. I've been looking at the Walther so that we have something less expensive to shoot on a normal basis but I like what you bought much more! I know Kimber is usually pretty damn pricey.

A lot of 22 LR pistols will not like some ammo as good as others. If your weapon's manual says to use the higher velocity ammo there is probably a reason for it. The best thing with any 22 auto loader is to get as many different type of ammo as you can then see what yours likes most. I've seen some really high end pistols that loved the cheap stuff better than anything. Others might be the other way around. A friend of mine as a Buckmark just lie mine but his wont eat the same ammo as mine will. They are just a little finicky much of the time. But once you get to know the a little better they many times become a favorite come range time.
