Change Black to stainless finish?

I just bought my Springfield XDm 9mm two days ago and I shot it today for the 1st time.

It is a great gun - I don't think I really understood just how good they are.

I not sure I'm going to do this, but mine is all black and I like the 2 tone better.

At the time I bought my gun it was on sale and they didn't have it in two tone at any price.

It seems that I seen posts of people getting their slides redone from black to stainless for a reasonable price.

I just can't remember where.

Any body know??

DON'T DO IT!

Your slide is Melonited, it's more resilient and more durable than a stainless finish. It has about the same hardness if not more than hard chrome IIRC.

To get a Melonite finish applied it costs about $200. To have your slide bead blasted, it's about $90.00

Heck I haven't found a place to get it done yet.

I just really like the two tone look - not enought to ruin a gun, but I do like it two toned.

Just looking for a company to talk to about it.

I had such a hard time finding my Kahr PM9 with night sights that I had to settle for the two tone. I sure wanted the all black, just appeals to me more.
