First Posting
Just got my first 1911. It was brand spankin' new in the case. I've had it almost a week now and haven't had the chance to fire it yet. I cleaned it, oiled it and locked it up in a gun vault bolted to flooer next to the bed.
I chose the Taurus PT 1911 in blue. Mainly from suggestions of other whose opinions I value.
Dad( the original):smt1099 used to have a Colt years ago, but it wasn't in the collection when he passed away. I don't what happened to it. That thin used to tear my hand up. i have feeling these checkerd grips are gonna smart at first.
Any way. I will supply feedback.
Thanks for all I have been able to read so far.

Welcome to the Forum!
The Taurus 1911 is a fine pistol IMO. Enjoy. :smt023

The checkered grips on a 1911 wont hurt you any. I don't use them much but it's more aesthetic thing for me. I use some pretty cool wood for my grips and feel the checkering takes away from the look of the wood.
I have bought two of those PT1911'sand really like them.
