funnel mag/ quick reloading

which guns in your experience have had the easiest mags to insert therby allowing the fastest reload times? i thought a couple of those glocks i fondled at the gunstore had some pretty smooth operation with that and the xdm i have is pretty decent i can load a mag in pretty quick, that was one thing i didnt like about this one 1911 i looked at was you kind of need to be more careful and precise when inserting the magazine it would take more practice to get really fast with it.

Fastest reload times are going to be determined by the gun you select and the practice that you put into it. You can add aftermarket stuff like mag wells and the like to assist you, but, the final speed with which you reload will be up to you. Just my .02.

It isn't the gun, or the accessories, or the gunsmithing. It's the practice you put in.

How To Do Quick Reloads:
(These instructions suppose a right-hander using a semi-auto with a thumb operated magazine release. Do this drill while standing over a bed or other soft magazine catcher.)
• Use practice magazines loaded with snap caps. Never use live ammunition in dry-fire practice.
• Clear the pistol, and then check its chamber to make absolutely certain that it's empty.
• Insert a magazine loaded with snap caps, and operate the pistol's slide in order to place a snap cap in the chamber.
• Have a reload magazine ready, loaded with snap caps, in your belt magazine carrier.
• Assume your firing position. "Fire" the snap cap in the gun.
• Without lowering the pistol, slowly release your weak-hand grip on the pistol and use your weak hand to rotate the pistol's grip in your strong hand so your strong-hand's thumb (or whatever finger you use) can easily reach the magazine release. Bend your strong-side arm so that the pistol is right in front of your face and you can see its magazine well. Release the magazine and let it drop freely.
• At the same time, your weak hand slowly reaches down and grasps the reload magazine. Best grip is with the index finger lengthwise along the curved front surface of the magazine, with thumb and second finger grasping the magazine. Pull the magazine out of its belt holder.
• Slowly lift the reload magazine up to the gun, turning it so that the top snap cap in it is aimed into your pistol's magazine well. Shove it into the gun, using your weak-hand's palm to finish the job.
• Slowly recover your two-hand firing hold. When it's secure and tight, "fire" the next shot. (The pistol won't go "click." That's OK.)
• Hold the firing position ("follow through"). Count to five. Now relax your hold, put the dropped magazine into the belt holder, rack the pistol's slide, and start all over again.

Keep this up for 10 or 15 minutes, and then stop. Do it again tomorrow. And tomorrow. And tomorrow...

Do not try to go fast. Never try to practice speed. Speed comes with lots of practice, and it comes without you thinking about it.
In practice, dry- or live-fire, what you want is smoothness, not speed. Go slowly and be smooth, and you'll eventually be quick. Try to be quick, and you'll just get slower and slower, and more and more clumsy.
