Reloads are ok for your gun as long as they are reloaded within spec - they don't exceed the pressures the gun is designed to work with.
It costs me about $.09 a round to reload 9mm and 38 special. That's about 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of commercially made name brand ammo at my local shops... if its available.
Just remember when shooting reloads, your gun manufacturer might void your warranty if and when something happens to your gun while using it. Read your owners manual before using it.
I shoot my OWN reloads exclusively. I'd be really nervous shooting someone else's... Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it is my gun, my hand, and my face...

I hope that your friends are recommending both that you learn to reload your own ammunition and that you frequent a range that allows you to use your own reloads.Quote:

Under those rules, shooting becomes both too expensive and (in the case of reloads made by someone you don't know) possibly unnecessarily dangerous.
(However, there are several excellent commercial reloaders out there.)
I prefer to shoot reloads, but like the others said here, I wouldn't trust just any reload. Preferrably I would use my own reloads.
