Ruger p-85 MK II

Hi guys, just a quick question if you will. I have a ruger P-85 it shoots well and has never given me any problems. I have shot thousands of rounds through it with no problems. I am thinking about trading it in to fund a new purchase. I was thinking of getting a G27 or XD9sc, maybe even a .357 snubbie. Anyways, how much do you think the trade in value is on this gun? I'm not looking at getting alot of money for it but I would like to know what someone would ask for it. Thanks, in advance for the help.

New ones sell between 250 and 450. Trade in is going to be around 40-70% of what a used one will sell for depending on the age and condition of the Ruger. You wont get the best trade on most handguns unless you already have a pretty good relationship with the shop you are trying to work with. A lot of times you're better off to sell it yourself. but if you can get 250-300 out of it I'd say you're doing pretty good. The P89 was not seen as one of Rugers best works. They were not all that much to buy and they're reliability was hit and miss for a few years.

Yup, a gun is like a car. You can trade it in, where you aren't going to get as much, but the process is quick and doesn't require any effort. Or you can sell it yourself and get more for it, although the process can drag out and there can be some hassle, depending on the buyer and other gun shops if you are transferring (my friend and I had to deal with some real jackasses at this store in Austin when I sold my XD40 to him!). Or, the third option is to cosign the gun with a shop. You name the price, they display it, then take a cut for brokering the deal.
